Chris Coons

Chris Coons is a United States senator from Delaware.

In his first three years as a United States Senator, Chris Coons has worked hard to find bipartisan solutions to the issues confronting Delaware and the nation.

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Chris is working to promote America’s interests abroad and defend against global security threats. This includes advocating for peace and stability in regions plagued by conflict, supporting our troops in the field, and stemming the spread of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

As Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, he is focused on building partnerships throughout the continent and ensuring that health programs, food aid, economic development and security assistance reach those in need throughout the globe.

A 1983 Truman Scholar, Senator Coons is the first recipient of the award to serve in the United States Senate. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor and Trustee of the Truman National Security Project.

A longtime New Castle County resident, Chris grew up in the Pike Creek and Hockessin areas and lives in Wilmington with his wife, Annie, and their three children, Michael, Jack, and Maggie.
