Truman Center Welcome Heidi Nel and Mike Signer to the Board

Washington, DC, April 2, 2024 — The Truman Center, a leading organization dedicated to advancing principled solutions to complex national security challenges, announced today that Heidi Nel and Mike Signer will join its Board of Directors.

As the Chief Operating Officer at New Theory Ventures, Heidi has demonstrated a commitment to innovation through increased capital investments in diverse founder-led companies and brands. Her expertise in asset management, as well as advocacy and storytelling for social change, honed during her tenure at The Raben Group and Represent Justice, will be invaluable as Truman continues to shape the national security discourse.

Her multifaceted background and unwavering dedication to social impact make her an exceptional addition to guide the Truman Center,” said Tripp Adams, Truman's Interim President and CEO, “We will leverage her insights and public engagement expertise to advance our mission to redefine national security."

Mike Signer is a seasoned leader with a distinguished track record in policy, law, and public service. From 2016-2018, he served as the Mayor of Charlottesville, Virginia, and currently serves as North America Policy Director for Airbnb. He has authored several books on the topic of democratic resilience, essays in The Atlantic and The Washington Post, and has been a visiting professor at the University of Virginia and Reichman University in Israel. He was a member of the Truman Project’s founding class in 2005.
