To conclude the event, Truman Center will present Mayor Muriel Bowser with the 2nd annual Truman Award for Exceptional Moral Courage, presented by Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman (ret.). The award will  honor her achievements and extraordinary service to the District of Columbia this year, including: dealing with the January 6th insurrection on the US Capitol Building, enabling an effective vaccine roll-out program, supporting Black Lives Matter movements, battling climate change, and helping our city become a healthy and safe space for all of its residents.

“At Truman we envision an inclusive foreign policy that enriches all American lives,” said Truman’s President & CEO, Jenna Ben Yehuda. “We host TruCon every year to provide a platform to bring together the best minds in national security, and to discuss the day’s most pressing issues. As we reflect on the past few months: 20 years after the devastation of 9/11, the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the increasing threats to our planet, we look to TruCon to inform, engage and empower.”

#TruCon2021 will be hosted in a hybrid model. Live-streaming will be available, with select in-person invitations to be sent to fully-vaccinated, masked, and tested members of the Truman National Security Project.
