Event: Inclusion, Representation, and Security in Colorado’s Elections

An election security discussion with Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, ACLU-CO Public Policy Director Denise Maes, and MSU Denver Chair of Political Science Robert Preuhs

Truman National Security Project’s Colorado Chapter cordially invites you to an election security discussion with Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, ACLU-CO Public Policy Director Denise Maes, and MSU Denver Chair of Political Science Robert Preuhs.

DHS says Colorado tops the nation in election security, but that didn’t stop suspected Russian hackers from “jiggling the lock” on Colorado’s voter database. And now we are beset by a pandemic that has decreased voter registration, particularly among young people, and impacted the way we cast ballots in parallel to unique voter suppression tactics.

Join Truman Colorado, in partnership with the Golda Meir Center for Political Leadership at Metropolitan State University, to talk about the local challenges to increasing voter participation, the national challenges related to dis/misinformation and the postal service, and the global challenges from external actors like Russia. We will talk about strategies we can take as individuals and as state and municipal officials to strengthen democratic participation.
